Round seeding

X-Wing TO will automatically pair players. There are a few things you should be aware of though.

Minimum number of rounds

One will get a significative ranking after n rounds up to 2^n players.

Number of players Number of rounds
3-4 2
5-8 3
9-16 4
17-32 5
33-64 6

First round

Random pairings are recommended for the first round, however the TO should avoid pairing family members or players who traveled together to get to the tournament, if at all possible, for the first round.
X-Wing TO will respect this rule as long as you have provided a "Group" for players of the same family or club. It will then try to pair players while avoiding mirror matches (if the option is checked in the app's settings).
If two players of the same group are still paired together, that means that no better solution can be found.

Next rounds

For each round after the first, all pairings will be based on the number of tournament points earned by the players. Each player will be matched with an opponent who has the same number of tournament points, or as close to the same number as possible.
In each score group, players are paired randomly.
Each pairing should be checked to ensure that no two players are matched up against one another more than once before either the end of the tournament or the beginning of championship play, whichever comes first. As each pair is formed, the TO checks to make sure that players have not already played one another. If they have, the TO must swap one of the players out with a different player who has the same number of tournament points, then matchups continue until every player is paired with an opponent he has not played.
X-Wing TO will display in yellow players that have already played against each other. You can reassign pairs by editing the round, and drag and dropping a player to another match.

  1. Very cool app. Would be nice if the app resolved highlighted issues.

  2. Excellent app! I have used this to run all of my tournaments. Do you plan to update this app with the new tournament rules? Win=1pt, loss=0pt, no marginal wins, and no draws.

    1. Yes, I don't know when it'll be ready though. I need to deal with the case of draws and let the TO enter the final result, ignoring destroyed points.
